Last week we had a call from a trade customer based in Clacton, Essex that had a vehicle requiring a GEM Unit / GEM Module programming to a FORD focus. The GEM module is part of the internal fuse box and is reasonable for interior functions including the lighting, heating, and options functions.
The customer had sourced a GEM unit to be fitted and programmed. As the vehicle was not running at the time we were asked to do this on site at the customers location in Clacton, Essex. To reprogram the GEM module we used ford IDS as the unit required the AS Built data. The easiest and most stable way of inputting the AS Built data is directly from the FORD server using Ford IDS.
Once the GEM unit was fitted to the unit the programming using ford ids only takes around 20 minutes to complete. Many main dealers will charge in excess of 250 pounds to programme a GEM unit whereas we use the exact same method and data to achieve the exact same result for much less and all of this without the need to visit the dealer.
