Today we visited a customer just around the corner from us in between Aldeburgh and Leiston (suffolk). The customer was experiencing intermittent non starting , we first suspected a EIS fault when we had first spoken with the customer.
When we arrived we plugged in to the SLK via the OBD port, the SLK has the standard mercedes infared keys along with the EIS / EZS system that is part of the ignition system / steering lock. The code was intermittent but only with one key so re new the actual EIS / EZS (ignition lock / Switch) was working correctly.
The solution,
We reset the body control unit as a precaution, then we recoded and adapted the EIS / EZS unit. This was all done within an hour. All faults were cleared and the vehicle was retested for faults and this re test came back fault free.
