This Audi A4 2.0 TDI came into our workshop in Saxmundham on a recovery truck due to not starting. Firstly we performed a diagnostic test using Audi approved ODIS we had communication with every ECU / Control unit apart from the main engine ECU. This 2.0 TDI powered Audi A4 uses the bosch EDC17 control unit and although not common for water damage this one had significant water ingress.
In an attempt to get some communication we read the ECU on the bench to see if we could “talk” to the control unit, After cleaning the board we did indeed have communication with the ECU so we cloned the entire ECU in case the customer opted for a used control unit.
After advising the customer of the options and cost involved in replacing the ECU the customer sourced a used edc17 ecu for us to reprogram and fit. If you have an ECU failure or need an ECU cloned please feel free to get in touch. Our workshop is based in Saxmundham between Ipswich and Lowestoft although we do provide a nationwide service by post for ecu cloning and ecu repair.
