Over the weekend we travelled to Dereham in Norfolk to apply a software update to a ford focus PSCM unit. Our customer has previously contacted ford and a number of other garages who had no idea of this update or how to perform it.
Using Ford IDS we read the current level of software in the PSCM unit and applied the latest version of PSCM software, We also checked the BCMii and PCM for software update both the PCM and BMCii had no further updates to apply.
Why update the PSCM (power steering module)
The main reason for the PSCM update in this particular case was after an hours driving the steering would become extremely heavy effective becoming non existent. The latest version f software has a known solution for this specifically.
