This BMW F11 (5 series) visited us because of an intermittent fault with engine management system. Using BMW ISTA diagnostics we tracked the fault down to a faulty DPF temperature sensor with fault codes including 481A and 4D00. The customer was expecting to replace the DPF filter but this was not required.
We performed a DPF filter clean along with a DPF regeneration and associated adaptations, This firstly cleaned the DPF filter to restore it to an operational state. We then performed a DPF regeneration so as the ensure the ECU relearned the fresh state of the DPF filter and calculated soot mass, After this we reset all engine adaptations to ensure no engine management conflicts could occur.
